Saeed Amal, PhD

Principal Investigator

Assistant Research Professor

Dr. Saeed Amal is an Assistant Research Professor at Northeastern University. Amal was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Stanford University School of Medicine where he focused on the applications of artificial intelligence to improve healthcare, specifically care for cardiovascular disease. He received his PhD and MSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Haifa and a BSc degree in Computer Science from Technion.

Amal has vast leadership experience in applied research from the tech industry and is a former VP of an R&D data medical startup in the field of cardiology. His research interests are the healthcare applications for artificial intelligence, including deep learning and machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), image processing, and recommender systems.

Marko Milosevic , PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Marko Milosevic is a postdoctoral fellow. Milosevic is working on applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence to healthcare.

Milosevic holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Georgia Athens, as well as a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Computer Science at Boston University. Milosevic’s thesis was in Number Theory, specifically the Torsion on Elliptic Curves. Milosevic has worked at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Wentworth Institute of Technology, as well as Philips Research North America.

Salah Alheejawi, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Salah Alheejawi is a Postdoctoral Fellow. He has graduated from the university of Alberta, Canada, with his Ph.D. degree. He received his M-Tech degree in Communication & Information System from Aligarh University, India. His research interests include machine learning, medical image analysis, pattern recognition, and computer vision.

Michael Wan, PhD

Assoc. Research Scientist

Collaborator

Michael Wan is an Associate Research Scientist at the Roux Institute. His research is in computer vision and machine learning with applications to infant health and neurodevelopment, which often entails working in data domains with few, weak, or unreliable annotations. He is a member of the Augmented Cognition Lab, directed by Prof. Sarah Ostadabbas at Northeastern University, where he leads a team of postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate researchers in computer vision. Previously, Dr. Wan was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in mathematics at the Ben-Gurion University. He obtained his PhD in mathematical logic at UC Berkeley and an HonBSc degree in math, physics, and philosophy from the University of Toronto.

Akarsh Singh

Akarsh is a Graduate Research Assistant working on deep learning algorithms in healthcare that can support clinical decision making. He has 2+ years of research experience in automated robotic applications and sports analytics optimization. Akarsh is currently a Data Analytics masters student at Northeastern University and has completed his Btech degree in Mechatronics Engineering with a minor in Data Science from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Disleve Kanku

Disleve Kanku, from Ashburn Virginia. Disleve received his BS in Mechanical engineering from Kansas state university 2022. Disleve is a recipient of the Alfond scholarship, and is a first year MSDS graduate student. Disleve’s undergraduate research focused on using machine learning and computer vision to optimize laser systems. Disleve is currently interested in using AI and ML in healthcare. Disleve is also a member of the National society of black engineers KSU chapter. In his free time Disleve enjoy’s playing soccer, working out and cooking.

Isha Hemant Arora

Isha is a graduate student pursuing a MS in Data Science at Northeastern University, Boston and has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Vellore Institute of Technology, India. She has a strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning and deep learning techniques, which she hopes to apply in the space of healthcare and believes ML and AI to have the potential to hugely impact clinical decision-making. Her work at Massachusetts General Hospital has helped her gain immense insight about, both, the immediate and future impact that machine learning can have in the field.

Jyothsna Akula

Jyothsna Akula is a graduate student currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Analytics with a major in Statistical Modeling at Northeastern University. With her strong analytical skills and passion for healthcare. Jyothsna has experience working with machine learning models, deep learning, and other advanced analytical techniques. Jyothsna is particularly interested in the healthcare sector and is eager to learn more about innovative and exciting projects in this field. As a graduate research assistant, Jyothsna is looking to apply her skills and knowledge to contribute to cutting-edge research in healthcare analytics.

Sahil Kiran Bodke

Sahil is currently a graduate student at Northeastern University, Boston pursuing MS in Robotics with a concentration in Computer Science and has completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Silchar, India. His undergraduate research was focused on classifying arrhythmia using deep learning. Sahil is immensely interested in Computer Vision and Machine Learning and is enthusiastic about the future of intelligent vision-based systems.

Karthik Nair

Karthik Nair is pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science at Northeastern University and has completed his B.E Degree in Computer Engineering from Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai. He has 3+ years of experience working as a software engineer in editing and life science research domain. He is currently interested in applied research in the field of Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision.

Shruti Milind Randive

Shruti Randive is a graduate student at Northeastern University in Boston, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Information Systems. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai. With around two years of experience as a Python Developer, Shruti has primarily worked on machine learning and IoT-based projects in the healthcare domain. Her current interests is in expanding her knowledge and expertise in field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and healthcare.

Abhishek Mathur

Abhishek Mathur, is pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering Management with a concentration in Data Science, machine learning and deep learning techniques. Abhishek is committed to leveraging data science to drive positive change in healthcare. Aditya Vyas Gurnani

Aditya is a graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science at Northeastern University. Aditya, has a strong interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) and has two years of research experience in this domain. Prathamesh is currently pursuing an MS in applied mathematics at Northeastern University. With a bachelor’s degree in statistics and more than three years of professional experience in data science, analysis, visualization, and reporting, he has honed his skills in this field. Prathamesh has worked with Dinero software, where he has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in using data-driven insights to help drive business growth and increase operational efficiency. He has a strong background in statistical modeling and machine learning techniques, which he leverages to develop data-driven solutions that address complex business challenges. 

Abhinav Mishra

Abhinav is currently pursuing an MS in Data Analytics Engineering at Northeastern University. He holds bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering with more than 4 years of professional experience in Software Engineering , data science, analysis, visualization, and reporting. Abhinav was previously working at Snowflake as a Full Stack Developer, helping in building a powerful Data Warehouse used by thousands of businesses across the globe serving data at scale of PetaBytes. Before that, Abhinav worked at Times of India, where he helped build regional websites for the organization with a peak user count of over a million concurrent users, serving news in different languages across India and globally . Abhinav has an innate curiosity towards technology and loves to apply his vast knowledge in domains such as Software , Data Science and Systems Engineering to build impactful products.

Zongyu Wu

Zongyu Wu is a graduate student currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science at Northeastern University. He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Science of Information and Computation at East China Normal University, and another Master’s in Mathematics at New York University. With strong background in mathematics and modeling, Zongyu is currently interested in using AI and ML in applied problems.

Parjita Munshi

Parjita is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Information Systems with a concentration in data science at Northeastern University. Shashank Ajit Patel

Shashank is a passionate researcher with two years of experience in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision in healthcare. Saanidhya Vats

Saanidhya is pursuing a master’s degree in computer science at Northeastern University. During his undergraduate studies, he undertook research internships at prestigious institutions like the Indian Institute of Science and the University of California San Diego, with a focus on deep learning. As the primary author of three research papers, one of which was published in an IEEE conference, Saanidhya introduced a groundbreaking deep network architecture that achieved state-of-the-art accuracy. Moreover, his contributions to open-source libraries and success in the Amdocs Hackathon, where he competed against 10,000 participants, underscore his capabilities. Currently serving as a research assistant, he is engaged in addressing the problem of prostate cancer detection using semantic segmentation.

Tanaya Kondejkar

I’m Tanaya is a graduate student pursuing a MS in Data Analytics Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston and has completed her bachelor’s degree from Cummins College of Engineering, India. With a solid grasp of machine learning and deep learning, she looks forward to using her skills to aid cutting-edge healthcare research and make a positive impact. Sushruth Prasannakumar Konapur

Sushruth is a CS graduate student at Khoury college with a focus on data science and software development. He has actively engaged in research throughout his academics and has presented his work in international journals and at conferences held in Spain, India. He has explored various domains in AI such as business process modeling, natural language processing, and image processing. He is currently interested in exploring AI solutions in healthcare, specifically in disease prevention and cognitive science.
